Deisgn Philosophy:
Japan, known for being a cauldron of creativity, style and culture, cradled the inception of SEI·SHI, to live, to die. The passion intensified, and erupted in the form of our very first Tokyo, Shibuya tee. The back of the tee features the Oni, or rather, it’s mask. The Oni has become a modern symbol of protection, the embodiment of tradition, and a vessel to express progressive art.

Tokyo, a city that dances to the rhythm of its own drum, a kaleidoscope of textures, tradition but most importantly, inspiration. Syphoned from the country’s love for visual art, animation and blending tradition with modern expression, we wanted to incorporate that in our very first project under SEI·SHI. Our graphic, the Oni, is a traditional figure of evil, a being that is formless and other-worldly. However, its fearsome nature also allows the Oni to serve as a guardian. In modern art, the Oni mask is a symbol that attracts good luck and protection.
